Thanks for the laugh, although it's also gut wrenching how true it all is. Narcissism is a hard personality disorder to deal with. Thank you, Banters, for being clear eyed-and unafraid to speak out in today's vengeful political environment!

We’re so glad to be able to make anyone laugh these days! I will never ever be silenced. I plan to live up to my name. Thank you, Michelle ❗️

It's not only about him being a narcissist, but it's also about him being an aggrieved and injured narcissist. In 2017 the Kennedy Center honorees refused to visit the White House. This was an attack on his credibility and legitimacy, which every narcissist struggles with at their core. Therefore, this is him trying to undo or exact retribution for that 2017 injury.

So much for culture and class. I'm sure Ted Nugent and Kid Rock will headline. ETTD.

Fabulous. Perhaps Elon giving a Sieg Heil will grace the cover of the playbills.

I'm just hoping Lara Trump doesn't become the Kennedy Center's primary performer in residence.

Essentially, we’ve somehow given a man whose vanity knows no limits, everything for him to grope and fondle. Everywhere he looks, he sees the opportunity for a mirror—and he enjoys no one’s reflection more than his own.

He is a malignant cancer. He is a modern day Caligula. And we’re all left to be the piss boys and girls, crawling behind him with a mop.

But other than that, I can’t wait to see the Kennedy Center “hot”!

There will be some eye-rolling moments for sure. And some grave-rolling moments for JFK's body in Arlington Cemetery.

He’s a traitor to America and deserves to be in prison - not in our Oval Office wreaking havoc on exactly everything democratic.

Amazing quote of his, eh? So hot 🤦🏻‍♀️

Another place where Trump gets to pretend to be in charge and the people around him get to destroy what it stands for

"Pretense" is such a big part of Trump and, for that matter, Trumpism. So much of their narrative is false, some of it is ambiguous, and all of it is politicized. A lot of the destruction comes from incompetence, and the mass number of those willfully acting in the service of that incompetence and the Chief Incompetent's behavioral disorders.

Trumpty Dumpty sat on a wall…

I’m 72, and pray to live long enough to see the pathologically evil predator pulled into the gravity well of his black hole malignant narcissism and crushed in the vacuum of deep space.

He is an evil predator and I’m still catching my breath that he managed to make it back into the oval.

Outspoken. I want to vomit. So, to help get rid of this menace, If ok in banters I’m going to see if I can explain what I’m doing to connect with rural voters in the swing states and districts. We must win the swing states or we will never see the end of this travesty.

Feel free to explain it on BlueSky. If I like it, I'll help amplify it. But this is simply not the place for it, sorry.

Will do! Just so I know you have considered the topic, could you reply on BluseSky when I post the thread?

BTW: I'm still confused as to what Banter's is for? Is it here for you to report and then we complain (Banter) about a situation, or here to report, provide a forum to complain, and then discuss solutions to help rectify the issue? Complaining makes me feel a bit better commiserating with others, is that the purpose Banters serves? If that is it then fine. However, isn't complaining just a waste of time? For example, wouldn't Bantering about how to engage voters, how to be an activists, etc., be good topics to banter about as they would serve the purpose of helping to solve the issue?

Bart - you might be overthinking this, and some of the word choices you're using seem skewed. Banters is a newsletter. Most of everything here on Substack is a newsletter. The authors of Banters are me and Outspoken - the fact that there are two of us, which makes it collaborative, is what we hope and think sets it apart. During most of our newsletters, we mix a main narrative where we speak as one, with a back and forth "banter" or exchange - where we speak separately - thus the name "Banters." Please read our "About" page which lays this out. One word you've used that seems askew to me is "complain." If you are suggesting that people who find something we say to be enlightening or worthy of discourse might chime in, then 'yes' that is a goal, and that's a goal of every newsletter publisher - but I would call that 'commenting' rather than complaining. We love comments. And we respond to them, as I am doing here. Finally, the reason why I am reluctant to espouse or comment on what you are espousing that is separate and apart from what we are espousing, is simple. This is OUR newsletter, each issue has a topic, and all comments (or complaints, if you will) should somewhat address the topic at hand. It gets messy otherwise. FWIW, I do think the points you make about trying to reach rural consumers who are not MAGA are valid in theory. But I cannot weigh in with detail on your methodology or anything else, because it's not something I have the bandwidth to add to my wheelhouse. The best way for you to garner an audience for your idea, is to foment relationships and post on social media like Bluesky, and over time, build a bigger following. There's no easy shortcut. Most accounts with larger followings have stayed with it over time. On this, I wish you good luck. (I'll check out the thread on BS next time I'm there.) Stay with it. - SS
